While the Virginia football team made some waves in the transfer portal this winter with 19 newcomers joining the program, they’re not the only new faces around the program this spring. Six high school recruits arrived for the semester too as they enrolled early.
Two receivers from the high school ranks already have started to leave an impression. Josiah Abdullah, a three-star prospect out of Georgia, and Dillon Newton-Short, a three-star prospect out of Richmond in state, took part in winter workouts and began practices for the first time this week. Virginia receivers coach Adam Mims noted just how hungry both players have been right out of the gates as he told the media this week that both want “to be extremely, extremely good” and it’s showing up in their approach.
