   Good analysis. Is there an optimist’s revision? If so, it could cite that three of the “Tier 3” games are at home, as are the NC State and Duke contests. And how solid is Louisville for Tier 1 with all their big changes since last year’s middling year? And is BC away really scary? So, the dreamer’s upside? Six wins if they beat W&M, take all the 50/50 games, and steal a home win against either NC State or Duke.

   3 wins is being optimistic. Yes, I'll be retching, but less for UVA's record than for what college football has devolved into.I don't see how we can compete in football with ethically challenged schools whose under-the-table deals over decades have prepared them well, now that the table has been removed. Bennett's skill and image will keep them competitive in basketball. WBB should improve dramatically short term. UVA can do best in sports with the fewest financial payoffs, where something approaching amateurism ( transfers and "grad students" notwithstanding) hangs on. We can only be competive in pro college sports if we can coax our prestigious graduate and professional schools into offering special lifelong benefits (professional service discounts, counseling, networking advantages, etc.) to multi-year UVA athletes. Cultivating common-sense parents with realistic expectations for their starry-eyed athletic children may also help.

   Good team summaries. In my opinion, HC Elliott must show progress by winning the JMU, W&M, BC, GT, and VPI games. The fan base will not warm up to Elliott if the Cavs lose first 4 games. Somewhat scary.
