The defense put up A's in the weekly grades. — **Joey Blount returns an interception against Duke.** ~ Kris Wright

Looking to end a four-game losing skid to Virginia and improve their 2019 road record to 3-0, the Blue Devils ran into one of the most complete defensive performances from a Virginia defense in my memory. That helped spark a 48-14 victory for UVA that pushed its season record to 5-2 and drew some good grades.

A fine overall win over Duke should not allow us to forget that the punt return team allowed not one but TWO fake/fumbled punts for first downs IN THE SAME QUARTER OF THE SAME GAME. As atrocious as this is, it has happened at least once before. Wyoming pulled off two fake punts for first downs in the same quarter against the 'Hoos in C'ville in 2006. It was easy to forget this shoddy performance as well because UVA managed to prevail in OT on a missed extra point.

very well done. Should note that on kick offs, Duke had only one return that I remember and it did not even get to the 25.
