TheSabre.com Fan Friday: Looking Ahead To 2023, Back To Jack Salt

The Virginia basketball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 66-46 win against Albany. That left the Cavaliers with an 8-1 run through those games this season.

Next up? The Hoos prepare for the bulk of the ACC season ahead after posting a 1-1 record in conference games before Christmas. This season’s final 18 games will be against league opponents, beginning with Georgia Tech for the final contest in 2022. UVA and GT tip off at noon in Atlanta on Saturday, Dec. 31.

As the real part of ACC play begins, here are some things on the minds of Virginia hoops fans.

• 18 regular season games remain (all ACC)....What does our final (ACC) record end up? ~ hoodat
• Probably discussed, the Kihei steals may turned the tide but the play of Franklin and McKneely (continuing good play and shooting) are much more important in the grand scheme. ~ cavgrad
• It’s just math ... . For Virginia to be more successful going forward the team either has to shoot more shots (so each shot is less important) or they have to start making more of the shots they are taking (including free throws). ~ SouthPoleElf
• UVA's offense ... (pics). It's not been good in 4 of the last 5 games, after being good (or crazy good) in the first 6 games this season (see first chart below). ~ Trigon
• Going to need Caff-a-ro’s five fouls v Pitt. ~ Stimp
• What's the 4th Play on Kihei's Mt Rushmore? ~ jonybuck33
• NCAA records. Many of the 5 Year Covid guys will break all-time records. ~ jazzhoo
