The Virginia football team opened this season with a 3-1 record for the third straight season under Tony Elliott. That included an ACC win in the season opener against NC State. Now, it’s time for the Hoos to step back into conference play with a trip to Florida State. The Sabre social sweep returns for a closer look.

There are multiple videos on YouTube that provide a glimpse at the matchup and the atmosphere around Florida State right now.

First for an appetizer, the Gramlich & Mac Lain show with Kelly Gramlich and Eric Mac Lain, both analysts for the ACC Network, preview games on the show. They took a look at UVA vs. FSU in this video, noting the concern with run defense against West Virginia possibly being a challenge again against Florida State. Both hosts have a little uncertainty with the Hoos right now.

Now, check out some videos that go more in depth.

On ACC Football addiction, Jacquie Franciulli joined host TJ Pittinger to break down the game. Franciulli mentioned defensive line depth for the Hoos possibly being a concern against good rushing teams. Pittinger, an FSU fan as host, said that last season Virginia exposed Florida State’s defense with linebackers struggling in coverage.

Here’s another video that says UVA’s offense can give the Seminoles’ trouble. The X’s and Noles show covers Florida State on the 247 Sports network. This video goes through the Hoos’ team with a lot clips.

If it seems like the view from Tallahassee is, let’s say, not all that rosy, well that’s because it isn’t. Frustration is probably the nicest word to describe the mood in the FSU fan base.

Here’s a video titled “Why FSU Football Will Never Be The Same” from the Trials to Triumph Podcast, hosted by Freddie Stevenson from the Seminoles and Chicago Bears. Guest Marvin Jones, another former Florida State player, points out how things are different in college football now. There’s another video from this channel talking about former FSU coach Jimbo Fisher coming up a lot in conversations as a candidate to return to the program.

Meanwhile, Warchant TV begins this video talking about a coaching change as a given. Then the hosts spent time on a segment asking whether it is time for “Recalibrating expectations from blue blood programs?” before previewing UVA with Cavs Corner. There’s another video from this channel talking the month ahead for Coach Norvell.

Then there’s this from the Locked On Seminoles Podcast, focused on the future of coach Mike Norvell and not the game. The segment titled “Coaching Intel: It’s Not A Lock That Mike Norvell Is Fired” set off a firestorm in the comments. And host Brian Smith’s shock to start: “What?”

And another from Pittinger on a different show (FSU Football: Double Fries No Slaw) where the topic is: “Does Mike Norvell Honestly Want To Coach FSU Football Anymore?”

So, yes, there’s some turmoil flowing around Florida State right now.

Basketball Preseason

While college football season approaches the halfway point of the regular season, college basketball officially stepped into preseason mode last week. That included the Virginia basketball team playing an outdoor exhibition against Vanderbilt in Charleston, S.C. The Hoos fell 82-73.

Jeff Goodman from the Field of 68 Podcast was on hand in South Carolina where he caught up with Thijs De Ridder. The interview covers about 10 minutes, including a discussion of De Ridder stepping into a bigger leadership role. Videos on Vandy are here and here.

The College Sports Company was in Charleston as well. (The Corner Media Company that produces UVA videos is part of this network.) Vince Wolfram reports from the LinkU Invitational with segments on Virginia, the new UVA guards, De Ridder, and more. There’s also Vanderbilt content.

Beyond the action in Charleston, there have been some other videos on the Hoos popping up. First, the Full Court Dash channel put Chance Mallory in the spotlight. The title: “Why This 5’10” Guard Needs To Be Your Favorite Player”.

On another channel, host Christian Odjakjian interviewed Sam Lewis about two weeks ago. He describes Lewis as a future NBA player in the clip below. The full interview is here.

A channel called Mainely Hoops checked in this week with a preview of the Hoos. This episode gives UVA fans an outlook from an outside perspective.

Finally, a YouTube Channel called CBB Today predicted the order of finish in the ACC this season.
