It’s been a big week for the Virginia football team.
The initial College Football Playoff rankings came out Tuesday and UVA landed at No. 14, the program’s highest ranking since the CFP’s inception in 2014. As the current ACC leader and therefore the presumed champion, the bracket placed UVA 11th against Ole Miss as the 6th seed. The rankings come out weekly through the final bracket reveal on Sunday, Dec. 7 at noon.
That final bracket reveal will place the five highest ranked conference champions in the CFP rankings and then the next seven highest-ranked teams for a 12-team field. The top four receive a bye, while teams 5-12 face off with the higher seeds hosting the lower seeds.
There’s obviously a long ways to go, but for the week, fans have been excited for the Wahoos. And the debates on the CFP standings are part of the fun. Here are some of the message board threads:

In addition to the playoff rankings news, UVA also was selected as the host site for the weekly ACC Huddle Show. Featuring Jimbo Fisher, Eric Mac Lain, Eddie Royal, and Taylor Tannebaum, the show looks across the ACC landscape live from a game of the week.
Mac Lain welcomed Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris to his Gramlich & Mac Lain podcast this week. Mac Lain, meanwhile, made an appearance on The Sabre Podcast Network’s Hoos On Podcast this week. He Tweeted that he’s “hype to be headed to C-Ville!”

The ACC Huddle will air at Observatory Hill from 10 a.m.-Noon. Virginia promoted free breakfast while supplies last, a t-shirt giveaway, live show appearances (Chris Long may be a guest), and more.

Virginia also expects a big crowd from a resurgent Scott Stadium for the 7 p.m. game with Wake Forest on Saturday night.
