The Virginia football team won its fifth home game of the year with a 22-20 victory against Washington State on Saturday night. The Cavaliers own a 5-0 record at Scott Stadium so far this season.
Keeping the home record unblemished took a comeback effort for the Hoos. They trailed for the first time this season at the half and still were behind by 10 points entering the fourth quarter, 20-10. Thanks to a key offensive drive, an interception to set up a field goal, and a game-winning safety in the fourth quarter, UVA rallied to win.
Defensively, Ja'Son Prevard had the interception and Kam Robinson led the way on the safety. Virginia allowed just 8 yards in the fourth quarter in addition to those two big plays. Overall, the hosts held the Cougars to 326 yards of offense and snared 2 interceptions. Devin Neal had a team-high 10 tackles, while Robinson added 8. Donavon Platt snagged the other INT, while Fisher Camac posted a sack.
Offensively, UVA didn't find much rhythm in the game and finished with only 301 yards of offense. When the Hoos needed it most, though, the offense cranked out a 9-play, 97-yard drive for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Harrison Waylee secured that touchdown and he totaled 30 yards on 4 carries in the game. Chandler Morris went 15-25 passing with 0 touchdowns and 0 interceptions, while Jahmal Edrine led the receivers with 5 catches for 102 yards. Cam Ross had a 19-yard touchdown run in the first half.
