RALEIGH - The Hoos On Podcast checks in from Carter-Finley Stadium with the Postgame Report. Preston Willett brings instant analysis, postgame quotes, and updates from Raleigh after the Virginia football team fell 35-31 to NC State in a non-conference matchup.
UVA led 24-14 at halftime thanks in part to a big day from running back J'Mari Taylor, who carried the ball for the Cavaliers' first 2 touchdowns of the day. He later added a third as part of a 150-yard performance on the ground. After halftime, though, the Wolfpack hit the Hoos with a 21-7 surge in the third quarter to take the lead and made that stand up through a scoreless fourth quarter. The game ended with UVA threatening a last-minute score, but quarterback Chandler Morris misfired on a pass into the end zone that wrapped up the game with a NCSU interception.
In the end, Virginia had more yards (514-416), more first downs (24-22), and more time of possession (32:25-27:35) but lost the turnover battle with that game-ending interception representing the only one of the day.
