While the Virginia football team wrapped up spring practices last week, the spring transfer portal window opened this week and with that came some new interest. Including one that no one really saw coming.
I did not have Deion being worried about Virginia in 2025 on my bingo card.

Yes, Deion Sanders. Yes, Colorado football.
On Thursday, a Colorado account on Twitter shared a video where Coach Sanders says that Colorado defensive back Carter Stoutmire “got offered a bag” and then asks by which school. Virginia was the answer, prompting Sanders to turn to the camera and shared this statement.
“Virginia, you gotta stop,” Sanders then said to the camera. “I let you have one. I ain’t say nothing about it. Come on now. Come on. We let you have one.”

That post is timestamped as 5:03 p.m. And it spread rapidly. Articles started popping up and the video has climbed to more than 600,000 views at this point. Sanders, according to The Denver Post, said a news conference the same day that: “We’ve got some tremendous guys identified in the portal that we felt like were going to be in the portal. We don’t jump the gun on that stuff because the last thing I want to hear is my name associated with tampering anything like they do our kids.”
There have been a variety of responses, but as social media tends to do, Twitter also turned into a meme factory. While there is no mention of the situation specifically, here are a couple of posts of note just a few hours after that video time stamp from above:

It’s also set off a lot of conversation among fans on the message board in threads here and here. Of course, much of these increased portal conversations can be attributed to the major donation made back in December. That set off a flurry of activity from UVA that brought in 19 transfers during the winter transfer cycle. The Hoos likely won’t be adding that many players again in the spring window, but the offensive line and the secondary are prime (intended) positions of need. Stay tuned.
