Virginia football coach Tony Elliott said after spring practices concluded that the secondary topped the list for the program’s transfer portal needs. UVA wasted little time addressing it with cornerback Jordan Robinson choosing the Cavaliers on Friday.

Multiple reports confirmed Robinson will be headed to Virginia, including Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer from CBS Sports and 247 Sports.

This will be Robinson’s fourth stop for college football. He began his career at Division II Livingstone College where he started all 10 games as a true freshman with 26 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 6 pass breakups.

Robinson transferred into Division I at Kentucky in 2022 where he spent two seasons. He redshirted while playing four games in 2022 and then made 1 start in 2023 while appearing in 11 games. He had 13 tackles in 2023. Last season, Robinson played at Cincinnati where he appeared in 10 games. He tallied 18 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 pass breakups for the Bearcats.

The 6’4”, 210-pound native of South Carolina visited Virginia on Friday and signed. He matches what the Hoos like at the defensive back position with the versatility to play corner, nickel, or safety depending on the packages and personnel around him. Defensive backs CJ Spence (6’4”, 190), Dre Walker (6’2”, 195), Jam Jackson (6’2”, 191), Ja’Son Prevard (6’2”, 199), and Kevon Gray (6’0”, 180) all sit at 6’0” or taller as well so the long, rangy body type is frequently on the recruiting wish list for UVA.

Robinson joins Prevard and safety Devin Neal (6’0”, 210) as incoming transfers for the Cavaliers this offseason. It continues an offseason roster shift for the Hoos. They brought in 19 players through the transfer portal during the winter window and they signed 19 high school recruits as well. On the other side of the equation, 21 players entered the transfer portal with right tackle Blake Steen being the most recent player from UVA to do so.
