The Virginia football team begins spring practice next week as March ushers in the first building blocks for the 2025 season. The Cavaliers will be integrating numerous new faces as they signed 19 players from the transfer portal so these sessions will be an important step for the team.
Among the new editions are quarterbacks Chandler Morris and Daniel Kaelin as the Hoos reset that position. Morris (6’0”, 191) comes in with one year of eligibility remaining after posting 3,774 yards passing and 31 touchdowns last season at North Texas. Kaelin (6’3”, 220) brings four years of eligibility with him from Nebraska after being ranked among the nation’s top 30 high school quarterbacks in 2023.

The football team isn’t alone in making preparations for the 2025 season, though. Virginia Athletics announced Friday that it is forming a fan experience council for the first time. The goal is to meet several times a year with selected fans on a volunteer basis to provide feedback on the Game Day experience at Scott Stadium.
“Our most valuable resource to make meaningful changes to our gameday experience is our fanbase,” Eric Ward, Assistant AD for Marketing, said in a news release. “This council gives our fans a seat at the table with key stakeholders in our athletic department. Our priority is to provide the best experience possible for every fan at Scott Stadium and there is no better way to move forward into the 2025 season than having collaborative and transparent discussions about all facets of our experience with the Cavalier faithful.”
The committee from athletics will include Ward, Jess Armistead (Senior Director of Donor Experiences/Virginia Athletics Foundation), Jen Madden (General Manager, Virginia Sports Properties), Mike Szlamowicz (Assistant AD Sport and Broadcast Production), and John Welch (Associate AD, Facilities and Game Operations). Other members of Virginia Athletics will be involved at times as well.
Fans that have interest in serving on this council must apply. The goal is to have a council “comprised of Cavalier supporters representing a broad spectrum of fandom.” Click here to apply.
Certain areas will likely be brought up by fans as long-term concerns. While the department upgraded HooVision and the speaker systems in recent years, there are other areas that make the rounds from parking to food to Wifi.
