For the second time in a week, the Virginia football team pulled in a recruit from a D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region. The Cavaliers picked up a commitment from receiver Josiah Teasley on Monday after a weekend visit with the program.

Teasley announced his decision on social media.

This pushes UVA’s current 2026 class up to 7 members. The Hoos previously secured commitments from linebacker Derek Uran, quarterback Jae’Oyn Williams, quarterback Ely Hamrick, offensive lineman Michael Gildea, offensive lineman Dylan Biehl, and cornerback Alex Dunn. Uran and Williams made their commitments last week. The class originally included safety Jordan Vann, but he decommitted and flipped to Michigan State this past weekend.

Teasley is the first receiver commitment for UVA in the 2026 class. The Hoos also have recruited Williams, Hamrick, Michael Gildea, and Biehl on that side of the ball. The 2025 class included receivers Josiah Abdullah, Dillon Newton-Short, and Isaiah Robinson.

Like Williams, Teasley comes from the DMV region. He played previously at Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland, but announced a transfer to St. James Academy at the end of May for his senior season. At QOHS, he played football, basketball, and ran track. He earned All-Montgomery County in football (second team) and basketball (third team) and was on the Honorable Mention list for All-Met by The Washington Post. The Maryland Football Foundation named him as a first-team all-state receiver.

Teasley earned offers from Marshall, Stony Brook, Maine, Stonehill, Howard, Merrimack, and Morgan State, most of which came last summer. He took a visit to Delaware this spring. Recently, however, Teasley spent a lot of time at Virginia. His team played in a 7-on-7 tournament, he attended a one-day camp, and then took an official visit this past weekend. That visit followed an offer from UVA in early June and he quickly committed after being in Charlottesville over the weekend.

A 3-star recruit on 247 Sports, Teasley is listed at 6’5” and 190 pounds. With the switch to St. James, he’s rated as the No. 35 prospect in the state of Virginia. He reported a 4.49 40-yard dash time and a 10.95 100-meter dash time on his Hudl profile.
