The Cavaliers never trailed and ripped the game open with a 28-3 surge early in the second half. UVA thrived on the offensive glass with 22 O-Boards leading to 26 second chance points. Five players landed in double figures with Thijs De Ridder pouring in 21 points with 10 rebounds to lead the way. Johann Grünloh added 12 points, while Sam Lewis, Jacari White, and Chance Mallory all had 11.

The offensive output came despite a sub-par shooting night. Virginia made 8 of 30 3-pointers (26.7%) and just 19 of 34 free throws (55.9%). The Hoos did hold Rider to just 32.7% shooting, including 3 of 12 (25.0%) from 3-point range.
