After picking up the first Virginia women’s basketball commitment for the 2027 recruiting cycle, new UVA coach Aaron Roussell didn’t have to wait long to add to the class. Sabrina Anderson, a guard out of The Potomac School, made the call for the Cavaliers on Thursday.

Anderson joins Nevaeh Roberson in the 2027 class. Roberson picked the Hoos after a visit in early July.

Anderson announced her decision on social media.

Anderson is rated as a top 100 prospect by national recruiting services. Prep Girls Hoops rates her at No. 47 nationally, while ESPN ranks her at No. 60. She carries a 4-star rating. That means both Anderson and Roberson are top 75 prospects with Roberson ranked as high as No. 48 (On3) as well as at No. 55 (Prep Girls Hoops) and No. 73 (ESPN).

Anderson drew plenty of recruiting interest. She reported offers from Maryland, JMU, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Purdue, and many more. She visited Virginia, Maryland, and JMU this summer before making her decision. Notably, the her Richmond offer came in 2025 when Roussell was the coach there.

The 5’8” guard built that interest at The Potomac School and with the West Virginia Thunder on the AAU circuit. She averaged 23.3 points per game as a junior with 2.5 assists and 2.9 steals as well for Potomac. She connected on 79 of 197 3-pointers (40.0%). Stats come from MaxPreps.com. Anderson also participated in the 2025 USA Women’s U16 National Team trials.

At Virginia, Roberson should fit in as a versatile lead guard. Under Roussell, the Hoos are expected to have a passing and cutting offense with spacing to be able to create off the dribble as well. That should suit Anderson, who has shown high-level ability as a shot creator. Highlights can be found on her Hudl profile and social media.
