The Virginia women’s team basketball team’s roster reboot continued over the weekend with two more additions from the transfer portal. The Cavaliers secured commitments from Princeton center Tabitha Amanze and West Virginia forward Danelle Arigbabu on Saturday.

UVA officially announced both players already have signed.

With these two pickups, coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton and company continued an offseason roster overhaul. Amanze and Arigbabu became the sixth and seventh transfer additions. The Cavaliers previously added transfers Raiane Dias Dos Santos (Florida State/Gulf Coast State), Romi Levy (South Florida/Auburn), Sa’Myah Smith (LSU), Caitlin Weimar (NC State/Boston/Marist), and Adeang Ring (Central Florida).

There’s a lot of height coming with that group. All but Dias Dos Santos (5’9”) list at 6’2” or taller on the roster. Smith (6’2”) and Levy (6’3”) both pencil in as wing options, while Weimar (6’4”), Ring (6’5”), Amanze (6’4”), and Arigbabu (6’4”) should provide depth in the frontcourt forward and center spots. The Hoos are plugging in spots around Kymora Johnson (5’7”), Paris Clark (5’8”), Olivia McGhee (6’2”), Breona Hurd (6’2”), and Jillian Brown (5’11”) at the guard position.

Both Amanze and Arigbabu bring several years of college experience with them to Charlottesville.

Amanze spent three seasons with a Princeton squad that made the NCAA Tournament each year. The Tigers also won two Ivy League Championships in that span. She played in two of those seasons with three career starts. This past season, Amanze averaged 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds with 22 blocks and 22 steals in 12.6 minutes per game. In the 2023-2024 season as a redshirt freshman, she played 89 total minutes to finish with 41 points, 22 rebounds, 8 blocks, and 5 steals.

Amanze, a four-star recruit out of high school, has two years of eligibility remaining.

“She will be a difference-maker for us at the five position,” Agugua-Hamilton said in a news release. “Tabbie brings length, strength, athleticism, and a level of physicality we’ve lacked in the past. She has some untapped versatility to her game that I’m excited to develop. She’s a high-character kid who values her academics and will ultimately enhance our culture in all facets.”

Arigbabu will be on her fourth college stop with one year of eligibility remaining. The extra year comes from an NCAA waiver applied to some junior college athletes in response to a lawsuit filed by Diego Pavia, the Vanderbilt quarterback.

She began her career at Long Beach State in 2020-2021 (only played in 2 games) and then transferred to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M for two seasons. She played 20.1 minutes her first year there with averages of 8.2 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Arigbabu made the move to West Virginia for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons. Her first year with the Mountaineers, she averaged 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 10.9 minutes per game. Last season, she played in only 15 games for averages of 1.1 points and 0.5 rebounds in 5.7 minutes per game. WVU made the NCAA Tournament both seasons and advanced to the second round.

“I’m super excited to add Danelle,” Agugua-Hamilton said in a news release. “She will bring a physical paint presence on both sides of the ball, and she’s also a great passer. Danelle is a very energetic kid who brings an abundance of maturity and character to our team.”
