The Virginia women’s basketball team’s last two recruiting commitments cam from Class of 2025 players reclassifying into 2024 with Kamryn Kitchen and Payton Dunbar joining the Hoos. On Thursday, the program picked up another 2025 wing when Gabby White made the call for the Cavaliers.
White announced her decision on social media.
White plays for Seaforth High School in North Carolina and for the CP3 Flames on the Nike EYBL travel circuit. She helped Seaforth reach the NCHSAA 2A Eastern Region Finals in 2024 and helped lead the team to a 2A state runner-up finish in 2023.
The 5’10” combo guard earned All-State recognition from HighSchooolOT twice in her career to date. She’s piled up 1,387 career points and 822 career rebounds entering her senior season with Seaforth. Last season as a junior, she averaged 17.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.8 steals. White has averaged nearly a double-double in her career at 16.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
With this commitment, Virginia will have three dynamic guards stacked alongside one another on the roster. Kitchen and Dunbar reclassified to enroll in 2024 but both may redshirt this season. Kitchen scored more than 1,000 points in just three seasons with her team and shot 42.0% from 3-point range last season. Dunbar averaged 27 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block per game at Jefferson Christian Academy as a home school student.
The Cavaliers also feature multiple rising sophomores that will be a key part of the roster in those future years. Kymora Johnson, Olivia McGhee, Hawa Doumbouya, Edessa Noyan, and Rylee Grays are all in that group. Doumbouya and Grays joined the program this spring as incoming transfers.
UVA finished with .500 records each of the past two seasons. Virginia went 15-15 in coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton’s first year and 16-16 this past season.
