The Virginia baseball program earned its seventh trip to the College World Series in June and while UVA didn't win a second National Championship to go with the 2015 trophy, reaching college baseball's biggest stage showed again how much talent comes through Davenport Field. That's led to numerous professional baseball opportunities for former Hoos.

With the season complete, more Wahoos are hoping for that chance. Players eligible for selection have turned their attention the Major League Baseball Draft, which is set for July 14-16. Sunday begins the draft at 7 p.m., while Monday's and Tuesday's rounds start at 2 p.m. Griff O'Ferrall, Ethan Anderson, Casey Saucke, Jay Woolfolk, and others will hope to find a good landing spot to launch their pro careers. O'Ferrall and Anderson are the highest ranked among the group with MLB Draft projections among the top 100 players.

Of course, organizations can also draft high school players (if a player enters college, it resets draft eligibility to three years after high school). Virginia features a strong incoming recruiting class, but several of those prospects will also be on the draft radar. Like O'Ferrall and Anderson, Luke Dickerson and Caleb Bonemer are among the top 100 in draft projections for example. That naturally creates some 'wait and see' nervousness for college programs and their fans.

The draft angles have led to some discussion for fans as they try to sort out the possibilities for individual players and the impact that might have on UVA's roster next season.
