Three former Colonial Athletic Association standouts played significant roles as graduate transfers on Virginia football’s 2020 squad. The Hoos appear to be eyeing another talent out of the FCS-level league for the 2021 season, as former Villanova student-athlete Jaquan Amos announced an offer from the Hoos.
The 6’1”, 190-pound senior cornerback officially entered the transfer portal on January 18. He claimed offers from UVA and Kansas State on January 22, as well as an offer from Mississippi State on January 23. On January 22, after announcing the offers from the Cavaliers and Wildcats, the talented defensive back tweeted, “Making a decision real soon.”
Amos played in 33 games for the Wildcats, including 11 of 13 contests as a junior in 2019. His junior campaign was his best from a statistical standpoint, as the Philadelphia (PA) native totaled 50 tackles (40 solo), intercepted four passes, had 2.5 tackles for loss including a half a sack, and was credited with 11 pass deflections.
Amos returned two interceptions for touchdowns in 2019 and has four interception return scores in his collegiate career. The first of 2019 came in a season-opening win over a ranked Colgate team.

Virginia has officially announced the addition of two graduate transfers to the program this offseason in former Louisville cornerback Anthony Johnson and former Oklahoma State tight end Jelani Woods. Former Georgia Tech defensive end Chico Bennett Jr. has told TheSabre.com that he intends to transfer to UVA as well. Bennett Jr., who would play outside linebacker for the Hoos, says he plans to enroll in the Spring Semester 2021. As of this writing, no official announcement has been made on UVA’s end regarding Bennett Jr.
