M'ba, a 6'6", 310-pound prospect, attended St. Thomas More (Oakdale, CT) in 2018-19, but recently he announced that he is reclassifying from the class of 2020 to the class of 2019. M'ba announced his final three of UVA, Florida, and Tennessee earlier this week before revealing his commitment today.
Virginia signed 23 student-athletes earlier in the class of 2019, so M'ba will be the Hoos' 24th signee in the class. Safety Chayce Chalmers, defensive back Antonio Clary, and wide receiver Dorien Goddard enrolled on Grounds in January, while the rest of the group is expected to enroll this summer.
Virginia's defensive line haul is impressive. In addition to M'ba, the Hoos also boast consensus 4-star and Under Armour All-American defensive lineman Jowon Briggs and in-state standout defensive end Ben Smiley III.
M'ba is UVA's third European-born recruit in this class, joining quarterback/athlete Luke Wentz and offensive lineman Kariem Al-Soufi, who both hail from Germany.
